“Keeping Connected” is the theme for 2016 National Assisted Living Week which takes place September 11-17, 2016. Hawthorn House residents look forward to the event each year which includes a week of special activities designed around the special theme.
“We’re planning a week of technology related activities for residents and their families this year,” Hawthorn House Activities Director, Theresa Alexander, said. “We’ll also include some annual activities that residents enjoy such as the annual luncheon cruise in the Choctawhatchee Bay and the Ms. Southern Belle pageant.”
Residents will have a Wii bowling tournament and will also use the Wii to play games that will help with balance. Residents will also have an opportunity to Skype with family. The Activities Department is also planning to create a closed Facebook group for residents and their family members. Photos of activities and events will be shared in this group.
Hawthorn House will also host the Ms. Southern Belle Pageant at the Bob Hope Village ball room. Residents from local assisted living residences will participate in the pageant and one will be crowned Ms. Southern Bell. The winner receives a very special crown and sash.
