Hawthorn House will host a health fair with free memory screenings on Wednesday, November 4 from 10 AM to 3 PM. To schedule a free memory screening, please call (850) 609-2550. Hawthorn House is located at 1200 Hawthorn House Drive, Shalimar, FL on the Bob Hope Village campus.
Memory screenings are an important tool in the detection of cognitive impairment. Each screening takes approximately 10 minutes and is administered by a qualified professional; however, a memory screening is not used to diagnose any particular illness and does not replace consultation with a qualified physician or other healthcare provider.
“The Hawthorn House is honored to partner with the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and their National Memory Screening Program,” Leigh Rice, Hawthorn House Administrator, said.
According to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, memory screenings make sense for anyone concerned about memory loss or experiencing warning signs of dementia; whose family and friends have noticed changes in them; or who believe they are at risk due to a family history of Alzheimer’s disease or a related illness. Screenings also are appropriate for anyone who does not have a concern right now, but who wants to see how their memory is now and for future comparisons.
