Ann’s Journey Home to Bob Hope Village

January 14, 2026

Bob Hope Village resident Ann’s connection to the Air Force Enlisted Village began long before she ever imagined living here.

Her late husband, a retired Master Sergeant and Air Force photographer, spent countless assignments in the early 1980s documenting the construction of the new Bob Hope Village while stationed at Eglin Air ForceBase. Ann was often right at his side, watching the vision take shape – acommunity unlike anything else, created for the widows of enlisted Airmen.

Over the years, Ann heard from friends and peers howwonderful it was to live at Air Force Enlisted Village. When her husband’s health began to decline, Ann thought about where she would want to be – and Bob Hope Village was at the very top of her list. She knew this was where she wouldfind security, friendship, and peace of mind.

Two years ago, she moved to Bob Hope Village. And today, shesays there are simply no words to express how she feels!

Ann especially treasures the reliable transportation – no matter where she needs to go. Doctor appointments, shopping, restaurants, orsimple errands – Air Force Enlisted Village makes everything accessible. Butwhat means the most to her is the sense of family she has discovered here…

“Everybody here loves each other and helps each otherwithout even asking,” she shares through grateful tears. “I’m just thehappiest person on earth. No words to explain it.”

Every donation to the Air Force Enlisted Village receivedhelps create a place where military widows like Ann never have to face theirlater years in fear or isolation. A place where they are surrounded by dignity, compassion, and community. A place they can proudly call home.

Thank you for being a part of our Air Force Enlisted Village family, and for the kindness you extend to our military widows like Ann.
