As the vibrant colors of autumn blended into the mild winters of Florida, Air Force Enlisted Village became a haven of festive cheer, where Bob Hope Village and Hawthorn House residents joyously embraced these seasonal celebrations that filled their days with warmth and camaraderie.
Residents celebrated the changing seasons with creativity through seasonal arts and crafts. They made ornaments, painted holiday decorations, and made greeting cards. These activities showcased their artistic talents and fostered a sense of accomplishment.
With each seasonal arts and crafts project, residents were excited to prepare and celebrate autumn and winter holidays with parties and special occasions.
With many residents having been stationed in Germany, residents were delighted by an Oktoberfest celebration that included pretzels, beer, and schnitzel. Halloween was celebrated with a witch’s bike ride around the campus, while a party added an extra layer of fun, with costumes, laughter, and a few spooky surprises.
The Veteran’s Day ceremony featured CMSgt Kelvin J. Hatcher of the 33rd Fighter Wing at Eglin AFB as the guest speaker, and Eglin AFB Honor Guard for the Posting of the Colors.
Thanksgiving was a time for gratitude and shared meals. Bob Hope Village and Hawthorn House residents enjoyed a traditional feast with family and neighbors while expressing their thanks for the relationships that make Air Force Enlisted Village a warm and welcoming home.
As the holiday season unfolded, the halls were decked and residents shared in the magic of Christmas with special musical guests, parties, Christmas lunch, and post-holiday breakfasts. Residents bid farewell to 2023 and welcomed 2024 with a special New Year's Eve bingo bash.
At Bob Hope Village and Hawthorn House, holiday celebrations go beyond the ordinary – they form the fabric of a caring and festive environment where residents can age with dignity, surrounded by the warmth of community and the joy of shared celebrations.
