When Toni lost her husband unexpectedly, her world changed in an instant. Suddenly, on her own, she found herself unsure of where she would live or how she would move forward. She couldn’t afford to stay in the home they had shared, and her options were disappearing quickly.
That’s when a caring family member stepped in. Her brother-in-law, who lives in Shalimar, told her about Air Force Enlisted Village and helped her prepare her application. “I never thought I was going to get in,” Toni recalls. “Next thing I know, I hear, ‘We have something for you!’”
Just over two years later, Toni is thriving at Bob Hope Village. She has rediscovered the joy of gardening, volunteering, and connecting with others. “I can’t go anywhere without being stopped and greeted with a big hug or kiss!” she says with a smile.
Toni’s gratitude extends deeply to the staff who care for her each day. “They are just fabulous… they take such good care of me,” she shares.
